Shrimp Wonton
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 pound shrimp peeled and deveined
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/4 cup chopped celery
- 2 tablespoons minced ginger
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon chili oil
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon minced ginger
- 1 clove garlic minced
Instructions
- Make the wonton wrappers: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the egg and water. Stir until a dough forms. Knead the dough for 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let rest for 30 minutes.
- Make the shrimp filling: In a food processor, pulse the shrimp until finely chopped. Add the onion, celery, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Pulse until just combined.
- Assemble the wontons: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a thin sheet, about 1/16-inch thick. Cut the dough into 3-inch squares. Place a teaspoon of filling in the center of each square. Fold the dough over diagonally to form a triangle. Bring the two corners together and pinch to seal.
- Cook the wontons: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the wontons and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until they float to the surface. Drain the wontons and serve immediately.
